For a few days here, in south Florida, it was too cold for spray painting outside. No, not for the spray paint, but for me – brrr! However, today is a beautiful day so I finally got to finish painting the chair legs and arms. One of my readers (hehe – that’s funny to say – my readers – it still hasn’t hit me that I have a few 🙂, Susane, suggested a few different options, and I took one of them. I chose to paint them a muted nickel. I really like how it’s turned out.
Voila!
Looks awfully blue in this picture, huh? It’s not in real life, it’s still teal.
Anyway, the only thing left to do is to paint the nail heads. And possibly give it a little depth by adding a black rub? So, what do you think??
Sorry this is a short post, but I have to go finish getting Christmas packed away. I have so many new ideas to try out from Pinterest, but I can’t start them until the holidays are all cleaned up and put away.

I think I’d definitely do the black rub! I agree that it looks a little flat and it’s a vintage chair. The rub will give it that antique look and accent the details of the legs, while the blue and silver still give it a modern pop. Even if the rub only got into the ridged parts and the arms and legs were still MOSTLY silver I think it would give it just enough definition. Great work!

This looks great! My question about the fabric paint is How does it feel?? Does it turn a soft plush fabric into something courser? It seems like once the paint coats the fibers that it might….

No, it seems to just dye the fabric. It’s no more coarse than when I started, especially the cotton things I used it on.

Here’s a tip for photographing something that’s predominantly teal: Go into your camera mode settings and set the white balance to “cloudy” if you can. I’m the proud owner of an incredibly teal living room and but it was wreaking havoc on my auto white balance settings and every photo looked as though I had painted my living room “smurf blue”- ack! The “cloudy” setting brings the yellows and greens back into the color. Love the chair by the way, it looks great!

Oh my goodness!! That’s awesome advice, thank you! Going to re-shoot the pic tomorrow. No matter what light I took it in, it came out blue. I would never have figured that out – I learn something new everyday 🙂

How exciting I have a smaill chair to try this on. I bought fabric at a rummage sale but now I think paint is the answer. I would love to stripe it what do you think? I know painters tape and caulking is great on walls but I’m sure it’s not the right coice for fabric. Anybody have an idea how to make the lines sharp and clean?

I’m so excited to have found this post! So excited in fact that I just turned around and ordered ten bottles of the teal paint for a chair that’s been aching for some attention! This color would be perfect for our living room…a great pop of color amongst a sea of neutrals. One question…any issue with paint odor after everything has dried? I read a comment on one of the sites selling the paint that the user didn’t like the smell after finishing her project. Any issues after it’s gotten a chance to set in a bit?

It doesn’t smell, except when you first put it on. And even then, it’s not so bad. When it dries the scent is gone. Let me know how it turns out 🙂
