Thrift shop beauty

There is nothing I like more than to save money. It makes me a little giddy when I find a sweet deal on something I need, as opposed to just something I want. Today, I went to Faith Farm to find a bedside table for my son’s room. No luck at all. But I did find some lanterns with potential, and they were an additional 50% off their $5 and $10 posted prices. Good stuff, but nothing post-worthy. I decided to call it a day, and as I always do, I did a final walk through before I left. As I headed to the checkout area, I had to stop and wait for the staff to unload a pallet of chairs. As I stood there, they pulled these chairs off and before they even

hit the ground, I was sitting on one of them!Love! Ok, so I know pink isn’t exactly everyone’s favorite color, but these chairs were in great shape (NO damage), smelled great, and there were TWO! I have been searching for a set of chairs for our master bedroom for months! If you have ever set out to look for used matching sitting chairs, you know how hard it is to find all three of these criteria together. I told the salesman, Anthony, that these babies were mine! At this point there were quite a few people stopping and checking them out. I told one pushy guy that I licked ’em already! He looked at me kind of strange…obviously, he didn’t come from a family of seven kids. I asked Anthony how much they were, since they weren’t even tagged yet. He called for his supervisor to come price them for me. In the meanwhile, another lady was circling me and my chairs. We started to chat about the chairs, and that they were fab, and that she was an interior decorator and would take them if I didn’t want them, and she said she thought they would be at least $200 for the pair… oh no. I wanted the chairs, in a crazy lady kind of way, but I was a little hesitant to pay $200 for them. Even at that price, they were a steal. Me and my new buddy had checked them over, and they were of such good quality and condition, she thought they must have come from a Palm Beach-y home. My heart started to pound in my ears, and my palms were sweaty. I couldn’t justify spending that much today – my self-imposed spending money for Faith Farm was only $50 for the day! I could feel them slipping away. Finally the supervisor came to price them and I almost died when he put this tag on each of them! 20111029-165630.jpgI literally did my highly embarrassing happy dance, right there in the middle of the store! Good thing my ten year old wasn’t there, he would have been mortified! Ha! My new friend laughed at my joy, congratulated me on getting the deal of the day and walked away with a little slump in her shoulders. I ran to the front and paid for my booty before anyone could remove my “paid” tag, and drove around to pick them up. How perfect was it that they both fit in the Rav4 with my three lamps?! Awesome!! I haven’t decided what I’m going to do with them yet – leave them as is, or re-cover them in a new fabric.

The fabric on them now is in close to perfect condition, so they don’t need to be reupholstered, but pink is a little much for our master bedroom. We do already have many yards of this fabric, that used to be our curtains in the old house. I have been hoping to re-use it for something besides a bunch of throw pillows, and I’m thinking this might be a good use for it. I have to find a good re-upolstery shop around here, because it’s way too big of a job for me to try to do on my own.

UPDATE: The hubby has nixed my using the old fabric. As he put it, he is “over that fabric”. But we are going to update them. Will post pics when they are done!

Thinking maybe this fabric?Have you ever bought anything that makes you want to do the happy dance???
